Machines of loving grace, 2024
Painting by Amelia Brown
20 x 30 inches
22k gold paint on black Nepalese lokta paper
Inspired by the ancient muraqqa tradition of Indo-Persian painting (which traditionally places poetry and paintings in assembled albums) and the age of AI. This painting speaks to the techno-optimist poem from the 1960’s, “Machines of Loving Grace” by Richard Brautigan. The painting is in the style of tehzip or border illumination which could traditionally accompany a written poem on the same page.
