Leatherwork by Amelia Brown
Bridle leather with metallic embossing and brass screws, poems set inside.
This object is a case for poetry. We use our precious and durable materials to carry around currency and credit cards. But in the post-wallet age, what if we re-assigned leather to hold other precious items? We could carry a tiny folio of our favorite poems, ready to be read privately or pulled out at the end of a long dinner with friends.
In lieu of a brand logo, the case is printed with a line of verse from e.e. cummings. In lieu if cash, it is filled with contemporary poems that serve as guiding lights in my life:
All Bread by Margaret Atwood
haiku by sonia sanchez
on june blossoming in june by Karen An-Hwei Lee
anti poetica by danez smith
The Cinnamon Peeler by Michael Ondaatje
