My process is grounded in poetry and craftsmanship. each design begins with apoetic theme, whichinspires the initial sketches. next, i use traditional indo-persian painting methods to dye the paper and transfer my artwork using raw pigment and a porcupine quill. In the words of the japanese zenpoet basho, “seek not to follow in the footsteps of the masters; seek what they sought.” I am grateful to have studied with masterpainters in several traditions to createa syncretic blendof regions, eras, andstyles. hand and soul then, i paint the details with watercolor, gouache, or 22k shell gold. and lastly, the artworks arescanned and perfected in thedigital realm before making theirway to the printers.
