hand and soul
My process is grounded in poetry and craftsmanship.
each design begins with a poetic theme which inspires the initial sketches.
next, i use traditional indo-persian painting methods to dye the paper and transfer my artwork using raw pigment and a porcupine quill.
then, i paint the details with watercolor, gouache, or 22k shell gold.
and lastly, the artworks are scanned and perfected in the digital realm before PRINTING.
I am grateful to have studied with master painters in several traditions.
this has guided me in blending regions, eras, and styles into my own aesthetic.
In the words of the japanese zen poet basho: “seek not to follow in the footsteps of the masters; seek what they sought.”
